In June, we heading up to Woodruff Scout Camp for our annual week long summer camp. The week started out strong, we arrived and had an easy check in, scouts were smiling, exploring camp and just happy to be back, and the week just got better and better! The weather was just about perfect the entire week and everywhere you looked, you saw our scouts in our purple shirts smiling and having the time of there lives. Towards the end of the week, things kicked up another notch when two of our scouts, while out on a late night hike, found their way back to camp with a new friend in tow. A small orange cat followed them from the middle of the woods, 4 miles back to camp and wound up staying with us the rest of the week. One of scouts was even able to adopt him into their loving home. (we checked all the local missing pet pages, drove around, not chipped, no collar, etc. We couldn’t find any original owners)
Our week of animal adventures didn’t stop there though, while hanging out on the fabulous new Sharp Center Porch in early afternoon, the scouts noticed a bat making a lot of noise. Eventually the small bat dropped out of the ceiling and into one of the scouts jackets. A few minutes later… TWO bats crawled out! What an amazing thing to experience.
It really was a jam packed week full of scouts working on merit badges, earning awards, playing games, doing puzzles, playing disc golf, white water rafting, popcorn and candle making, and so… much….. MORE! Really, check out the full album below and block out the dates so you can join us next summer!
